It's conceivable that this was due to some inadvertent setting, but it's not like I had set up any temperature-dependent rules, so I found it confusing. iStat Menus seemed great, then then it suddenly started randomly turning my fans off for short moments. Temp Monitor is great and inexpensive, but, unlike MCF, I found that I had to manually switch it off before putting my Mac to sleep, plus it uses many times more CPU than MCF. I understand the principle behind this (explained on the developers website), but in practice it's too limiting for me. TG Pro is great software, but, out of an abundance of caution, the developer chose to make it impossible on Apple Silicon Macs to configure the fans at anything less than full blast. I thoroughly tested Macs Fan Control (MCF), TG Pro, Temp Monitor, and iStat Menus. I have a Macbook Pro with Apple Silicon and work in hot environments, so thermal throttling of CPU was an issue. Macs Fan Control is the best of the bunch for my purposes. With Pro version you get extra features (custom fan presets), priority customer support and confidence in future updates and improvements. Under "Control" click "Custom" and you can then use a slider to change the fan control on your Mac".Launch the app and you will then have access to the fans and be able to see the temperatures of the components inside your Mac.Download and install Macs Fan Control from MacUpdate.Works on all Macs, both Intel & Apple Silicon. Solve noise problems such as those caused by iMac HDD replacement.Solve overheating problems like those found on a MacBook Pro.Real-time monitoring of fan speeds and temperatures.
